In this glossary, you will find the terms most commonly used in our company:

 

Approval confirmation or successful completion of the review process for something. Usually requested from the head manager.

 

ASAP (As Soon As Possible) – to be done at the earliest opportunity / as quickly as possible.

 

BD, BizDev (Business Development) – the sales department, including sales managers and account managers.

 

Deployment – process of moving code or “deploying” an application to a production environment.

 

Delivery – an achievement or result over a specific period of time. Can be measured in terms of revenue, traffic, sales, or the number of tasks completed from the roadmap.

 

Validation – approval of a document or actions by a manager or colleague.

  • ◾️ Looks valid – “looks correct,” i.e. conditionally approved
  • ◾️ Validated – approved
  • ◾️ Send for validation – send for approval

 

ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) – the approximate time required to complete a task.

 

IR (Incident Report) – a document that thoroughly analyzes an incident or failure. The purpose of an IR is to identify the root causes of a non-standard situation and prevent it from happening again.

 

Invite – an invitation to a meeting or a specific communication channel.

 

Meet – meeting in Google Calendar, i.e. Google Meet.

 

Ping – to remind someone about a task (like giving a “nudge”).

 

Push – to speed up or drive a process forward.

 

Review – checking a document, message, email, or code for correctness.

 

Summary – a brief description of a situation.

 

Sync – synchronization; also a meeting where team members share updates on current progress.

 

Standup /Daily – a short but clear list of completed tasks from the previous workday and/or planned tasks for the current day in order of priority.

 

Thread – replies to a message within a communication channel on a specific topic; a discussion thread.

 

Financial Request aka FinFequest– a request created when payment is needed or when requesting a budget.

 

Follow-up (f-up) – a brief summary of a conversation, structured in key points.

 

FYI (For Your Information) – used to share information for awareness.

 

Fix – to correct or resolve an issue.

 

Escalate – to report an unresolved problem to a manager or a higher-level manager in order to speed up its resolution.
